Luckily l caught the sight, of a single rose.
Blooming petals, candy-floss pink, appearing soft as snow.
It stood out as so pretty, elegant, plump with hope
arrving in our world and singing, 'Hello. I can cope'.
The ugly wind was whistling, whipping up a storm
but that little bit of heaven was not intimidated, torn.
Upright and so beautiful it stretched up, staying put,
even though the elements played havoc underfoot.
I'm certain that the next time, when l see that noble tree,
a lot of little buds will call, calling out to me.
But picking out my velvet friend, l'm sure l still will do.
The image stays here with me, it's so solid, real and true ..

Hi Denise. Yes, I agree with the above, definitely a pick-me-tonic during this wretched cold spell we’re having. I guess it’s pretty much the same where you are too. Enjoyed your poem, it was simple, unpretentious, rhymed well, and sent a message of hope.
