Sleeping Bag

When you walk past me
with future seeking eyes,
consoling yourself, you can’t help
solacing yourself, it was right
shiny coins get pissed away
on drugs, drink, bad decisions.
Do not think of me.
You did not see me.
I’m no longer there.
When you walk past me
with your face to the sun,
comforting yourself, it’s nothing
soothing yourself that someone soon
will tidy up anyway
it’s why you pay your taxes.
Do not think of me.
You did not see me.
I’m no longer there.
When I was four
my head was full of rainbows
so I danced with them.
When I was eight
my head was full of chimera
so I took them on.
At age sixteen
my head was full of voices
so I ran from them.
When you walk past me
do not think of me.
You did not see me.
I am not there.
