you came to me under a weeping willow

When I saw you there
the tree holding you up
a weeping willow
coincidence eh
they said you'd been down
hit the wall
never like this before
I gave you my memories
said I'd been there
you handed them back
shoulders arching your head away
folding you up
inverting time
I sat down beside you
spilled my past
thought it would help
lift the day
maybe bridge the decay
your eyes lost inside themselves
spinning on their splintered axes
hunting like they were blind
demanded I stop
birds spoke from above
did more than I ever could
filled our silence here
helped filter the sun through a cloud
to light your face
for one second, two, three
I got up to see what I had done
turned to you but the person was gone
no remains, just the sun that shone
