For Brenda

Although it was years before we caught up again, I never did forget the friendship that
We all shared. I’m just so glad I managed to catch up just in time.
I have such wonderful memories of my old friends and hope they can share this with me. They stayed in touch throughout many years, so in a way I’m a stranger, but this stranger is feeling quite sad right now.
For Brenda
We grew up in the 60’s and what a time it was
A group of us would sit and talk or sometimes go for walks
On Sunday spot on 3 o’clock time for top of pops
Gathered round the tranny to hear the hits and flops.
We had no worries, cares or fears
Good friends we stayed throughout the years
And even as the years rolled by
We stayed in touch come hell or high
We all moved on to pastures new, children of our own
Brought them up, watched them grow and now the nest they’ve flown
Now we find we have the time to catch up with old pals
Those memories of happy days and many later tales
The years have mostly passed us by but still we have those friends
Apart from one who’s left us now, and oh! how she’ll be missed
She fought like mad, we knew she would, but sadly in the end
It’s time to say goodbye. We’ve lost a dear dear friend.
Who knows how long, before, we all meet up again
And will there be a tranny there for us to gather round
And pass the time just like before listen to the sounds
Will we talk and go for walks, no longer feeling pain

Hi Roy, I too grew up in the sixties and loved every minute of it, as I did your piece of writing. I agree it's hard to let those memories of the past go, I think they make us what we are today and all the things we got up to, whether good or bad are an experience we have come through. Definitelly enjoyed reading and thanks for sharing. Jenny.
