dropping leaves now

I shall collect another leaf

to press  in your old book

of  scribbled  dreams and

wishes

the gardener says

the tree needs  cutting back

the word cutting

slices  my

heart

in two

.

The simplicity and word economy gives emotional distance on your subject. I think it gives the impact a double-whammy effect. Very powerful.

I like this very much indeed. It makes me think of old mother who's present day memories fade almost as soon as they happen - but she can still remember so much of her past. It's a beautiful and evocative piece.

The tree in question is a cherry, around thirty years old, I love the changes it brings each year.
