It’s midnight now and I’m fighting the past
wondering how and wondering why our love didn’t last
if only your knife had been kind and killed me fast
But you cut slow and left a hole with that expensive wine glass
It’s midnight now and the cake is turning stale
decorations fallen down, flower petals brown and frail
still searching for the answers to this broken fairy-tale
tears streaming down the face under this untouched veil
It’s midnight now and my tears are all I see
wishing I could be free of you, the way you’re clearly free of me
but you jilted me, left me alone like an abandoned ship at sea
to sink with the other broken hearted and share their misery
It’s almost one now and I thought I would die
But I continue to live though I have no reason why
hour after hour and day by day goes by
my tears aren't enough, I haven't the energy to try
It’s almost one now and I’m still sat in this white dress
wondering how and wondering why I’m now stuck with the rest
thought we were the exception, I was a fool I confess
but now without you I feel emptied, my purpose seems less
It’s almost one now and I’m still waiting for your call
wondering why and wondering if you ever loved me at all
I should have seen it coming, that’s why they call it a fall
so I’ve torn our old photos, ripped them down from the wall
I don’t care for the time now, I don’t care for the day
time hasn’t moved since the day you slipped away
you’ve forgotten all we had because it’s easier that way
just keep going and don’t look back, I’m just your yesterday
