Thinking Back

Thinking back on years gone by
While laying in my bed
The thought of going back to school
To lessons that I dread
Maths and science, History too
French oh what a bore
Algebra, Pythagoras,
Just what the hells that for
Would I need a set square
Ruler and compass
To leave this bloody classroom
And drive a London Bus
Out there in the real world
Where normal people strive
To work and earn a decent wage
And hope to stay alive
I’ve managed this for many years
Always paid my way
The kids have flown this comfy nest
Hip Hip Hip Hooray.

Hello Roy,
Hello Roy,
I really enjoyed reading this mainly because you have managed to rhyme this effortlessly and I know how difficult that can be but also because you have recaptured the dread of school and the wondering how it was all going to help you in a career. I must admit Pythagoras hasn't featured much in my career though I like him well enough but dogs can be so ignorant whenever I mentioned my dear friend Py they seemed to switch off.
Hope you are coping and not having too many falls,
Moya.
