The Heat of the Desert I.P.

In the coolness of the night,
millions of jewelled stars
sparkle; embroidered on
a blackened canvas,
but when comes the rising
rays of light...images begin
to pulse in the hot, raging
sway of the desert sun,
creative illusions in a hostile
land...a vast lonely ocean of
grains of sand, showing no
compassion to the common man,
only subsistence a watering hole,
taking refuge in the shade...beneath
the shadows of contoured trees;
where the sun shimmers through leaves,
then once more on again across
bleak windswept land...on and on,
if you should live to see another day;
count your blessings before they drift away.

Lovely clear descriptions,
Lovely clear descriptions, Jenny. I especially liked the picture in verse 1 of the clarity of the desert sky, and then the hot daylight air distorting. and the 'contoured leaves'. The last verse seemed to picture someone just walking on with a vague hope of finding another watering hole in time -?

As Rhiannon says, Jenny,
As Rhiannon says, Jenny, crystal clear pictures you create for the reader. You transported me right there...to that desert, with your words. Thank you, so much, on a wet and cold evening

You have created a very vivid
You have created a very vivid image of a trek across the desert, Jenny, alluding to the oppressive heat, the mirage, refreshing oases and all the obstacless that one may encounter in a hazardous journey.
