A Rubik’s Cube, and like it

Is it a toy
for a little boy,
or an executive gadget
with which to fidget?
… for a student to turn
as he tries to learn
the 3D contortions
of pattern distortions?
… hones mental agility
if that’s your ability –
for some, relaxation,
but others, frustration.

A beautiful concept,
but I am inept –
much easier to twist
ideas that consist
of words, till they flow
as I’d like them to go –
for my gymnastics mental
aren’t in numbers or spatial
but in playing with verbal
configurations,
to structure and sculpture communications
that I hope will be teasing
to thought,
and sound pleasing
to ears –
my meaning immediately caught.

Thanks, Bee. Glad you liked it. Lovely to meet you last night. As I said then, this,[ though as I said to Tina, it came bit by bit], was from a time of wakefulness the night before! But the idea did seem relevant to 'wordsmiths'! Rhiannon

Thanks, Vera. It was good to meet you, too. And it's good to have your comment above: I think it's partly my Welsh roots that like making use of consonants and rhyme in that sort of way if it works - making a music of it and keeping concentrated if I can! regards, Rhiannon

Hello Rhiannon,

Loved this one.  You just seem to be getting even better with these I.P.'s and your turnaround is awesome.  I don't know how you do it so quickly after the I.P. is announced.  Not only that but you do it so well.

Really enjoyed even though it brought back memories of my absolute frustration wiht the thing.

Hi, Moya. So glad this gave you some fun and memories! and you  understood what I meant about working with word arrangements.
Actually this time I deliberatley didn't think about it, until the Tuesday night as I had said I'd go to the Wheatsheaf, which took some planning. And then Tuesday night I got rather wakeful and a series of thoughts on this starting buzzing, so took a break before trying to settle to sleep again!

Hi Rhiannon

This was fun to read. I never was able to work a rubix cube successfully - but my husband and son did it very well. But I daresay that making a puzzle with words, such as you have done, is an equal if not greated mental challenge. Well done.
