How do you define love then?

How do you define love then?
You threw a tantrum today,
As if you were still a baby.
An older baby who can
yell and curse at the same time.
“… You don’t love me.”
“… You never buy me the right things.”
… I never ask you what you want
… I never act like you want…
I am not as you want me to be…
So you believe:
I “obviously” don’t love you.
The thoughts in my mind afterwards,
tried to skate over the pool of blood
pumping from my stabbed heart.
Swirling around ‘what I would do for you’;
Whether or not I love you?
I love you so much
I’ve chosen to leave awesome experiences,
To end my blessed independence,
To wake up near you,
To always be there with you, for you.
I love you so much
I would change your diapers if I had to,
Help you out of your wheelchair if needed,
Ease your pain however I could,
Lose my sleep, sacrifice myself, for you.
I love you so much
I’d sit by your hospital bed, alone,
Awake for every minute my eyes could be,
Praying to keep you,
Beyond a last breath.
I love you so much
That yes, yes, I would,
Be it your life or mine, I’d give mine willingly,
That’s how much I know I love you,
I would hang on a crucifix for you.
Yet, those are my definitions of love,
Not yours.
My definitions are not for you.
How do you define love after all?
If it’s different to me,
Then you must be right,
I can’t love you.

An exploration of the anguish
An exploration of the anguish felt in those moments of desperation. Really well expressed.
Sad.

aww i feel for you. it must be love but the other doesn't know it. Love can mean 'keep them mean, keep them keen." play their game, be mean :)
you have shown great intensity of feeling in your poem, I applaud you for that.
maisie Guess what? I'm still alive!
