Today it is eighth May

observed as the world Red Cross day

to reflect upon its august ambitions

as to alleviate the inhuman conditions

of the starving, illiterate suffering billion

struggling for basic hygiene and medication

living below human dignity

in the the societies with stark inequality

never knowing what is independence and impartiality.

The emergency and disasters are only manmade calamity

Instead of inspiring motivating the volunteers across all nations

the greedy mass does facilitate them to be seer helpless observing organizations

Can the lucky blessed few not pledge today in unison

sacrificing greed, selfishness and in humanitarian ambition

seeing the Holy Cross in its symbolic emblem of Red Cross?

to work for its august cause jumping the bar of nation and creed across?
