Don't talk to me about love

Don't talk to me about love
I don't want to hear it anymore
I 've heard enough broken promises
For you to come knocking on my door
I've been there and back again
Heard the word too many times
Don't talk to me about love anymore
Your love made me temporarily blind
Your kisses were like heaven
Your hands like velvet to touch
Don't talk to me about love anymore
It hurts me too much
We used to glisten in the moonlight
Our bodies wrapped into one
Don't talk to me about love anymore
Or how we've only just begun
I've given you too many chances
The lows outweigh the highs
There was no mountain we could climb
Our love wasn't written in the skies.
Don't talk to me about love anymore
I've heard it too many times
I've heard your empty promises
Given back your diamond ring
The spark had died long ago
And pure fear had set in
I've cried my private tears
Mended my wounded heart
Don't talk to me about love anymore
Our worlds have just fallen apart
I'm better on my own
At one with being me
Don't talk to me about love anymore
I'm complete as only I can be
The heartache does fade away
The numb feelings become warm
An internal love envelops me
I have found good feelings once more
I don't need your kind of 'protection'
Your hands upon my face
I have found my own strength inside
An eternal saving grace
A bright spark across the room
Ignites my own burning desire
Talk to me about love again
You are my hearts desire

Rhiannon, I had tears - I
Rhiannon, I had tears - I liked this so much. It is definitely one to be performed - not the usual anti-love rant. The rhythm is great and all the more natural for the occasional break, and the repetitions work well to emphasis the message. And then at the end, a light - a turn around with hope of a new kind of love that won't let you down. Brilliant!
