DETERIORATION HAIKU
 
Woke up this morning
and all was right with the world.
She lay there sleeping
 
Woke up this morning
as she held my noisy phone,
glaring angrily
 
Woke up this morning
remembering yesterday,
full of arguments 
 
Woke up this morning
looking at the empty space
where she used to be
 
Woke up this morning
then turned and went back to sleep.
Comforting darkness.
 
Woke up this morning
determined to do something
then went back to sleep
 
Woke up this morning
to find my bedroom smashed up,
then reached for the glass.
 
Woke up this morning.
Had to let the bailiffs in,
Then I got angry.
 
Woke up this morning
looking at the cell ceiling
and the metal door.
 
Woke up this morning
blaming everybody else
angry at the world.
 
Woke up this morning
Vodka and tablets just there
And took a deep breath.
