Last Chance

Shyness was a chink in the armour
of the round-headed kid Charlie Brown.
As a matter of fact, it was that timidity
that, every time, would let him down
when thinking of a red-haired girl
and flirting with the idea of romance.
But, lacking in self-confidence,
was unwilling to make any advance.
He suffered in silence and sighed;
he had decided that he was unable
to conquer her affection and love
and therefore she’d be unattainable.
He would have one more opportunity
when re-united for the school dance:
he had to tell her that he adored her
and that would be his last chance.
