I'm Home

I love this, sad as it is. It perfectly captures that in-between moment, which is what poetry does best.

Something bleakly real here, imperfect life is where we are at home. Love the words flopping, feels familiar.

This tells so much about the state of the relationship in thoughts v unspoken words. The last stanza is wonderful, sad and so telling. 

'My preemptive
I love you Beautiful
flops humiliatingly
somewhere between us' and

'I want to run
both to you and away
I’m home' -                      

I felt the deflation on his return. 

This in the last stanza- 'flops humiliating somewhere between us/ Like a failed acrobat/ on echoless hardwood floor' highlights so well (and visually) the strain and tension. I also like how you reveal in subtle ways the'clues' which gives a sense of foreboding. 

I got from this an element of not being able to accept love, making it all the more uncomfortable to express.

This is really good. Profound, imaginative, heart breaking, magic!

Really moving. I liked the hard wood floor bit too. Small telling details.  And 'but there are other clues' -  having to turn and look at the truth.
