No explanatory plaque,

Just scales and teeth and tail

Curved round; sandstone corona on the hill -

The eyes watch the island,

Making sure it stays still.

I love short poems - it's a special challenge to say as much as you can with as few words as possible.

The beat of your heart is the mellifluent rhythm to my soul.

Me too. And you have to trust yourself about when to stop - sometimes they just 'settle' early.
