would you drive five hundred miles
to see me if I asked youwould you wrap me in your charm
for just a moment longkiss my lips
for old times sakeand let me breathe
the breath you takeand the familiar
sea-sprayed scent of your colognewould you dry my errant tears
because you loved meas you left me to be on your way
five hundred miles back homewill you still remember me
with fondnesslong after I am lost
when you are gonecould you -
would you -
if you think you should do
tell me would you will you really come

This is lovely, dear Bee,
This is lovely, dear Bee, says she with damp eyes.
(Just a teensy, weensy, 'p' missing, I think, from sea-sprayed)

Hi Bee
Hi Bee
This is lovely and full of hidden longing. My husband had a close friend who he asked me to contact so she could come and see him when we knew he had only a short time to live. So I contected her, and she agreed to come, and then the next day he died before she could. So when I called her back (she lives in Norway) she said, "He wanted me to come, and I wanted to come, knowing that is enough."
