Willow

If I call you Willow, will you get me through -
still standing, though bending in the storm?
Your raucous cry calls out my inner mother,
and even as pain threatens,
my whispering your name reminds me
of the kindness that brought you to my heart,
and kindness is a heartening thing.
Oh Willow, will you mind
if I no longer have the strength to bother
with you, and could you quickly grow to favour
quiet company beside me on my bed -
pat my gleaming head - closed paw, purr
until the rumble of your happiness becomes
my drifting beat?
Will you be my eyes and ears should I no longer see,
or hear - greet the creeping visitors who brush back
shampooed hair, and weep mascara tears,
or giggle as they hush and chatter In the deep?
But for now, you'll skitter howling circles -
till your engine putters out and then you'll curl
into the oval of my arms.
Kneading needled feet
into my cardie, dream of mother's milk,
and I with thankful swallows flitting from my throat,
will pause this journey for a moment
just to watch you sleep.

No you're not going loopy Bee
No you're not going loopy Bee, I did write a piece about my Turkish-Van cat. I love cats so much, but I also hate loosing them, which I have done in the past. They're such independent creatures which is why I love them so much.
Any way I'm glad you've found comfort with yours. An adorable picture by the way.
Jenny.

Kindness is a heartening thing, Deborah. I loved this. I'm a dog man myself, but the emotion is just the same. Will read this again.

HI Bee
HI Bee
How lovely for you to have a cat to look after, and to comfort you. She looks very sweet in the picture, and you write very well about how you hope she will figure in your life.

Bee,
Bee,
This is such a lovely expression of your feelings for your kitten. I found it very moving so much so that it made me cry. There are so many lines in this that touched me deeply partly because my Lincoln is lying beside me now. I had a bad dream and he came up to see what was wrong. But I'm wth you on the wasps!
