Summer Fun

Welcome to the theme park castle!
Let us just
slip it
from our portfolio
of experiences
like so -
and
ta dah!
Watch it unfurl and
pop up!
Before your very eyes
a 3D, all inclusive, immersive, interactive, attraction
for your little ones,
distraction from real life.
Let us help you
shape their imaginations,
it’s good for them to understand
what makes us SO great -
discover 1101 years of power and wealth
envy, celebrity, earls and other waxworks,
walk within walls once preserved
for those so much more worthy
than you,
picnic, or better still,
buy one of our fat-pack meals,
sit on our expertly groomed grass
and FEEL the history.
Down in the dungeon there’s
fun in fear
torture, decapitation
plague, oppression
poverty, persecution -
don’t worry children
that was the past
it’s only make-believe.
Not for you?
not to worry
plenty more to choose
from our shiny bag of
Merlin Entertainments.
Remember:
the more you spend
the bigger we can build your dreams.

Quite a cynical view of such!
Quite a cynical view of such! and the general 'entertainment/educational day out that keeps the kids happy at a price'. A lot of childrens' books seem to operate on 'make them laugh at horror and they'll bury their fears' attitude. You do manage such succinctness without losing the communication. Rhiannon

Just about sums up 21st Century style education and consumerism. Nice work Philip.
(anyway I guess there's a chance it gets their faces off their i-Phones for five minutes)

This is brilliantly facetious
This is brilliantly facetious, Philip. Jumped up history feed children power trips and over priced boxes of nutritionally-deplete tat. Do Not Sit On The Grass at my last one. Do not run. Or touch.

HI Helen
HI Helen
It is kind of scary thinking that kids get their history lesson from a theme park. But I suppose giving them details about what really happened then or now would not really class as entertainment.
It's a fun read, and I expect your school kids had a good time.

Please, mister, I've only got tuppence. How high will my castle be.? I loved the two strands of this. The form and the content so cleverly woven together to produce a powerful punch.. 'Let us shape their imaginations' is quite a frightening prospect.
