Mummy I miss you
Mummy I miss you
I saw you most days.
Nothing too exciting,
just coffee, shopping
at Tesco's or in town.
A trip to a garden centre,
sometimes the pet shop,
or sit down with the dogs
on the step drinking cider
from porcelain mugs, eating
biscuits we shouldn't have
while my kids run around.
We talked and we talked
about nothing and everything,
picking up conversations
continued from before.
My children interrupted,
were noisy and demanding
but you love them anyway
and we love you just the same.
Mummy I miss you,
although it may not show
I think about you often
and I thought you should know.
It won't be long now mummy,
I look forward to the day
I'll pick you up in my car,
we'll go to Tesco and have
coffee from the coffee shop
in mugs brought from home.
You'll be fine and I'll be fine,
there'll be no more concern.
My children will interrupt
and be noisy and demanding
but we'll talk and we'll talk
and we won't mind at all.

This is so sad and made me cry. I'm sure with good reason for temporary absence she feels the same and misses you for doing all the ordinary things. But the talking is good, all the same. Keep doing that till you are back together again. She'll love this poem as much as I do, I'm sure of that.

this is a lovely piece to read. there's obviously more to it than i could know - but reading lines and in-between lines drew me in.
