Tell-tale Tit!

‘A little bird told me …’
On a tree by a river a little tom-tit
looked down on the river below,
he watched an eccentric old fisherman sit –
a beard on his chin-again,
he fished with a pin-again,
and all that he caught he would quickly throw in-again
… for his name was, of course, Michael Finnegan;
the bird fluttered up, with a twittering flit,
to view the vast countryside sweep –
noticed Little Bo-peep had just lost all her sheep,
but saw where they’d drifted away to;
so it flew past her ear,
and tweeted how near,
then rose again high,
to be able to spy
from a regular circling fly-by;
and quickly observed the six wandering feet
of those three little maids from school –
truants larking and giggling, just playing the fool:
perceiving their danger,
this far-seeing ranger,
flew fast to report to their teacher.
So it’s good to be ‘seen’,
and it’s not always ‘mean’
to be ‘told-on’ with love by whoever,
but take care what you do,
what you say, where you go,
for secrets may come out whenever.
