One Day The Mouse Will Roar
A frail scrap of humanity
Hears the ogre roar
Trembling in the shadows
A maelstrom of confused emotion
Rips his heart apart
This frail scrap of humanity
Did not ask for birth
So why do his creators
Spit and snarl with unspeakable venom?
His pain unheeded.
Teddy knows his grip
Not rage but begging reassurance
Is crushed to his feeble breast
An unfair contest blazes on
Sobbing surrender gives a moment’s calm
A scarred infant makes a solemn vow
One day…words not yet given birth
The stalking beast will tremble
This timid mouse will ROAR.

This is what you spoke of of
This is what you spoke of of memories of your father's drinking, and its aftermath? It is very effective in its encapturing the listening youngster's distress. Rhiannon

Those feelings of emotional
Those feelings of emotional torcher, that menacing danger. One day you would grow up to be a man, a mouse no more, but still suffering the scars of those memories.
I could feel your distress within each word. I hope you find the strength to feel warmth and compassion again by writing down your sufferings.
You too are very courageous.
Jenny.
