Muse

each bird kept secrets
no whispers
as the tide brought bodies
rolling
into the tangle
the beauty of dying
beyond
bodies carried gently
from storms
to curtains
of cloud
the beauty of knowing
in a moon’s phase
that life is done
~~~
we stand against
the dying
night
caught before the sun
between
the blinding dark
and blinding light
deciding on lines
that
wash the shingle and
bring bodies ashore
Lovely flow to this poem.
Lovely flow to this poem. Could me maudlin and cliched like so many 'sea' poems but your short but long lines and stark imagery skilfully avoid this. I love the sound.
The beauty evades me somewhat
The beauty evades me somewhat, chilling with the dehumanisation of death and the shift from living to matter. You have the rhythms of the sea, echoing the relentless cycle. Lucky to be the ones at the edge.
Took my breath away reading.
Took my breath away reading. Something cold in the stark delivery... Described beauty.
