Big Top

When I was just a small child
my heart was with the circus,
my favorite acts were clowns
with their silly – crazy antics,
a zany fool approached our ma
while playing to the audience;
he turned to her and declared
“Smell my rose's fragrance!”
She took a whiff of his red rose,
he squirted water up her nose,
our ma with her smile quite fake,
joker then made quick escape,
ma's smile gone a frown did take,
later came big, main attraction,
fired from cannon man of action
in net he landed and got tangled
like a squirming salmon wrangled,
resembling arrow shot from bow
landing on trampoline below,
daredevil to core I thought with glee,
but ma's impression was irresponsible see.

Hi Jenny
Hi Jenny
You put a lot of fun into this poem. I enjoyed reading it. I have only been to a circus once or twice when I was too young to remember much about it. But my mother was always one to worry about anyone taking risks.
