Thoughts from a bolt-hole

[Lays guitar on bed] There’s no doubt in my mind, music speaks more loudly for the soul than poetry or prose. It’s alive with emotion. When I want to hear my spirit speak, it’s the guitar I pick up even though I’m singing somebody else’s words. But the words and music speak for me in that moment. I choose them because they're saying what I feel. I hear them in my head or on my iPod in the lightest and darkest of moments, through the day, through the night, through the week in any manner of settings. When I play them on the guitar, hearing its complex of tones and harmonics, and sing the lyrics, something happens. There’s something elemental about music. Maybe I need to get to where I’m writing my own emotions into my own songs and giving them a voice. God-willing, I’ll make it that far. Until then, I'll use whatever I have.

For me, at least, poetry/music...one and the same A piano-gal, me, though.
Sweet dreams.
