I cried yesterday.

Great wracking sobs,
the kind where you think 
you might suffocate 
between each one. 
I had been ok before,
I'd been getting on,
taking care of all the things 
that had to be done.
Then yesterday it hit
when I wanted to call my mum,
chat to her while I cleaned 
my kitchen, 
arrange to pick her up,
go to tesco,
maybe have a coffee at Costa, 
show her a picture of my kitten.
I don't remember crying 
like that before,
with a pain in my chest 
feeling as if 
I would just fall and fall...
It was awful.
Tomorrow will be different;
I'll get on with things, 
I'll be practical,
I'll look after everyone,
just as she told me -
"Keep your head down, 
focus on the kids."
What else can I do?
Just carry on.

I guess speaking medically, it's good you can cry like that, those that can't seem to get deeper problems. Speaking personally, I identified strongly with getting caught out thinking to go and telephone to share news of the children that my mother would have enjoyed hearing. Rhiannon

I didn't realise until now that you were Bee's daughter, I can see how poingnant and hard it must have been to write. A thoughtful and caring poem that is so meaningful under the circumstances.

Thank you. That means a lot to me. Writing helped my mum get through the last year and it's really helping me too (although I can't claim to have the same talent and skill that she has with words)
