Visiting Bury Ditches

Thick netting of cow parsley
borderng the narrow lane,
waving in the wind,
frothy hawthorn trees
scattered on the hillsides,
fields of buttercups,
white-star patches of stitchwort,
and clusters of deep pink campion,
bright blue ‘eyes’ of evergreen alkanet.
Park and walk up to the top,
the centre of the fort –
at the toposcope, full circle view
of Shropshire friendly hills
fading away into the blue;
clumps of bright, bright yellow broom;
soothing stroll down through the trees,
curling back below the main fort;
glimpses, where rides had been cleared,
across a valley to the next hill.

You always manage to catch
You always manage to catch these memorable strolls and write them down in such a way that it makes me want to be there.
Another ramble with nature at its best Rhiannon. Very much enjoyed.
Jenny.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
I liked the way you mentioned the colours of each item you saw - making it a rainbow effect.
