Through birdless skies

There was a limbless light
burrowing up ahead
towards the road's brow
ebbing of day
stub- fingered rays
held up by stiff cloud
dangled
like a mistake
through birdless skies
to sweep up scattered minutes
of what remained
And I,
I, clutching its tail
gulped down time's dregs
until replaced by night's air
yawning its blanket arrival
over that which had been,
mourning this morning
like a dear friend
I pleaded with tomorrow's dawn
to end this grief
'Today, I love you so.'

dangled, like a mistake
dangled, like a mistake resonantes with me, Don't know why, but good poetry does that.

So much to like in here. Crumpled images and jerky rhythm. Both compliments by the way!
