CARNIVAL

London...is the place for me
London, this lovely ci-ty …..la la la la la la la la la…..
This hot weekend I surely will
Catch me a ride to Notting Hill
And if you do not understand
Just listen to our own steel band
They’re practising for Carnival
Just up the road at Fairchildes’ School…….that’s cool….
Calypso brings us all together
Dancing in tro-pi-cal weather
Excitement, fun, no hate or drama
They’re going to the Panorama……Go Mama!
The crowds who come from near and far
Just love Croy-don Steel Or-che-stra
Who make the journey every year
And always get a special cheer… ….Hear hear….
I’ve dusted down my tambourine
I may be old but still I’m keen……....Go Queen!
We walk beside the float so proud
And mingle with the smiling crowd
Then try the patties and the curry
Drinking, chilling there’s no hurry……Why worry?
The smell of ganja scents the air
The po-lice know but they don’t care….They’re fair!
Now on the lorry with the pans
We shake our stuff, wave to the fans
No medals won, but hey, so what?
Music and friendship’s what we got……..That’s hot!
Spirits are high, not tired at all
Looking forward to next Carnival
For – London, is the place for me…
London, this lovely ci-ty..............la la la la la la la la la.....

Great poem Linda and the video had me up and moving while I watched.
Hope the weather stays fine and everyone has fun, which I'm sure they will.

Got the calypso rhythm
Got the calypso rhythm somehow, Linda! I liked the way you showed the forced rhythm - a bit like I had to do in my limericks. I hope there is a lot of safe enjoyment of the music, in playing, hearing and (gentle!) shaking, and laughter and friendship. Rhiannon

Linda - I hope you don't mind us changing the picture slightly - it's to do with being able to attribute it properly.

Hey there me ol' mate. This one really got me going. If only it could be like that all the time. It's one bash I've never been to (my loss). Keep on shakin' cool chick. Well done and enjoy the cherries.
