Disparity
P K Routry
At a posh hospital one sees the light of the day
The other is born in thatched house of straw and clay
Both survive to thrive
whatever they are destined to achieve.
In an elite private school one takes admission
for a degree he spends a fortune on education.
The other gets admitted in a low cost school
to them the degree is the same, to future a stepping stool
Sleeps one on a cozy, comfortable bed for a night’s rest
the other on hard floor enjoys the sleep the best
one eats hamburger and tuna fish with coat and tie
with a scanty meal, of starvation the other does not die
One puts on the costliest garment of style to impress
To cover up his nakedness the other puts on a simples dress
one moves on luxury cars driven by a chauffeur
the other uses the public transport with minimum expenditure
but both covers the same distance for their destination
the possession of car on the distance has no contribution.
The disparity thus enumerated has least contribution
on health and happiness of a man which are his own creation.
Disparities can be a million
But its impact on a man is his creation
Man is too mall a creature
to opine on disparity’s true picture.
Happiness is not having what you love
But happiness is loving what comes from the above.

I thought the author's
I thought the author's concern was to note that whatever the difference of birth or circumstance, what is made of the circumstances can be very different, and happiness can be found in very limited blessings that may elude those with so much material stuff. Rhiannon

Simple truth, proportion,
Simple truth, proportion, wisdom. Especially liked the bit about the bus and the car covering the same distance and both getting to their destination.
