A Bear
By Richard L. Provencher
- 2864 reads
approaches her cave
amid familiar surroundings
nostrils quivering for
intruder-scent
knowing his mother
is slouching in one corner
her fur matted
no longer in glowing flow
since calling this
place home.
In a weak whisper she calls out
knowing her day of days
are numbered--
a last chance to share in a hunt
she once led as this
end journey.
Mother and son seeking
a final meal knowing
it will be their last one together.

Hi Richard,
Hi Richard,
I love nature documentaries about bears and never miss one if it's on the tv.
Your story shows the reality, that even in the animal kingdom they too mourn the loss of loved ones.

Hi Richard,
Hi Richard,
I haven't a clue about the great feedback or how it gets on there, I just presumed that one of the editors puts it on. I'm sorry I can't be of more help to you. Best thing is to ask insert.
Jenny.

Richard, you only press 'mark
Richard, you only press 'mark this comment as great feedback' if you feel it has been a particularly helpful comment. Then a blue flier comes up to indicate you or someone else has found that comment helpful. If you click on where it says 'follow' that writer gets added to your 'Authors you follow' page (under 'Read' on the right hand side of any page.) If you click on the 'Authors you follow' you will see any authors you've asked to remember their details, so you can look at their collections. If you click on Jenny's name above her comment you will also get to her site that way, her collections, all her poems etc. Similarly if you click on my name! Rhiannon
