Stars Still Shine Brightly
I am an older
man from across the way
who sees out his nursing home
window each day.
Some hurry to cars idling
with dollars
paid by a made-it-rich uncle
with money to burn.
I can see teens
turning down rides
from parents who care.
No need to be babied yet
forgot gloves and hat
it’s freezing from winter’s wrath.
Time to rest or snooze. Breakfast
done and lunch too soon. Time
is full of memories
in the life of an older man.
A baby to youth -- then
husband to father – it’s daddy
from his little ones.
The roles are now complete.
Sleep older man in a nursing home
bed -- sleep. A little boy
to father memories.
Now daddy – time to go sleep.

Interesting musings
Interesting musings/observations through the window. Especially of the teens wanting to be grown up and go independently, but forgetting their gloves. Very realisitic of those mixed-up years! Rhiannon

Sometimes it all seems like
Sometimes it all seems like yesterday, then sadly, reality kicks in.
Love the storyteller in your words.
