Record of Storm Georgina
Wednesday 24th January 2018
Tempest riding on untamed clouds
blown to visit shores, traversing
land like a runaway fugitive then
leaving quickly as she comes,
revealing limbs that twitch and quiver
though trunks stand firm and bold,
below grass blades welcome shower
pulsing in lavish pleasure,
listen carefully to nature's shrill,
delighting under such deluge,
maybe it's a sign of Summer's arid
drought cloaked for unseen eyes,
she's inspired by drowsy days,
left yawning at coming season,
so let be Georgina's blustery
display now a welcome diversion.

I hadn't realised the present
I hadn't realised the present storm's name! We've had such a variation between extremely heavy rain and blue sky and sunshine during the day here. It does seem amazing how many trees seem to stand 'firm and bold' through some of these amazing gales! I had a little attempt at the feeling of storms in one of my brief 'englyn' form verses in my poetry monthly effort. Rhiannon

A good discriptive...
A good discriptive piece Jennifer. These storms...much to write about, their anger, sometimes their beauty. You have focused on her personality, 'she's inspired by drowsy days' that's why for me it's such a gem of a poem. Your imagination comes more acute each poem you write. Your work is always presented well and your rhyme is smashing. Bet you get cherries for this one. Hope you are well, as i'm aware you had some medical treatment recently. I hope your recovery is swift. Geraldine, x

Wonderful idea to chronicle
Wonderful idea to chronicle the passing of storms! Almost a metaphor for life, yes? I love the bit about the branches and trees, very visual. A very enjoyable piece, full of vivid imagery, for my morning coffee! Thank-you!

This is a beautiful poem.
This is a beautiful poem. I love the way the storm is personified. A runaway fugitive: what a striking image! I am wondering how the weather forecasters choose names for the storms and how they decide male or female. At least one of them must be a poet!
