frost a cold kindness
makes scars of passage
reopened each day
numb, unhealing. New
sun brings back feeling
warms clenched stone knuckles
and knee caps breaking
slick dark skin, rain drenched
rich with beginnings
bird song measures air
claiming space with walls
of beauty, all free
I walk through, lighter
where tree tips green grows
sparks of first fire - life
catching from Hazel
to Rowan, Cherry
to Hawthorn and on
till hills curve vivid
with a rolling blaze
of unfurling leaves

Some beautiful imagery in
Some beautiful imagery in this poem - particularly that final one of the green spreading like a contagion. I'm enjoying all the spring-inspired pieces, except I hope you don't all get too depressed when the promised snow arrives!

Yes, the image of the sread
Yes, the image of the spread of the 'green blush' is beautiful, and also like the melting of the bone-hard frozen mud, and the free, enriching increase of birdsong. Paints an appreciative picture, thanks. Rhiannon

Beautifully described here
Beautifully described here the first cracks of spring from the brown of late winter. Mud month is a perfect way to put this February.
