Groups of African men

Selling goods from a blanket

On the other

And sitting in one of the Mercedes Benz

Will be the man

Who owns the goods and the blankets

And who owns the man in the Merc, and the owner of the man in the Merc, and us?

I suppose the answer to that might depend a little on our level of engagement with the dominant order. We are all owned to a greater or lesser extent by the families who occasionally decide their ambitions necessitate conflict with one another. If we refuse to take part, they can imprison us or even lawfully kill us. That's being owned, I suppose.
