Rainbow

As soon as I saw the rainbow
I knew the day would be fine.
Admiring the resplendent glow,
suddenly I was on cloud nine.
I had this unwavering belief:
that the sun would again reign
and bring back welcome relief
to those suffering from strain.
I enjoyed the colourful show
hoping the elation would last
and I could forget the blows
that I had suffered in the past.
I'll have to meet old friends
and with them wine and dine,
to atone and make amends
having been given a lifeline.
It's great how nature moves
even a man most depressed
and how its beauty soothes
the heart of those oppressed.
Now that happiness ensues
it is with certainty that I know
that the transformation is due
to a brief glimpse of the rainbow.

rainbow nation
Very beautiful. Sincere. It is interesting how the word "rainbow" occurs only in the first and in the final lines.
Nelson Mandela named us the Rainbow nation and his dream will live.
