Watch This Space (Lost In Space)

I ended the day yesterday reading about something called a neutrino and an Ice Cube telescope buried deep in the ice of the Antarctic and began this morning looking into space. 

Then I read  and was inspired by a previous Inspiration Point…Lost In Space and was transported along a line that lead me to the origin of that neutrino – millions of light years away and in a perfect straight line across unimaginable distances.  That sub-atomic particle scares me from a philosophical perspective. Nothing distracted it on its journey from a stellar catastrophe until it finally collided with an atom of Hydrogen deep underground in a planet nearly for billion light years from the point of origin and I began to dream of an unimaginably varied and amazing journey across endless galaxies, stars and solar systems.

These tiny ‘ghost particles’ have virtually no mass, no charge positive or negative and trillions of them pass through my very soul every second yet their existence has not only been proven, but now we can trace their birth.

I feel some kind of bond with that neutrino and I do apologise for that as it won’t bond with anything! Yet my mind is free to wander and imagine what it may have passed right through me has been travelling at the speed of light since before this solar system had even formed. The very concept of time breaks down for me as unimaginable distances and chronological time periods stretch into infinity.

I find strange sense of calm about the very fact that the Universe in which we live is so incredibly vast and that in reality we know so little about it.  I am a person who likes his roots and to have a place to call home…I think a lot of us do.  Yet even this planet is nomadically speeding through the cosmos; accompanied of course by the rest of the galaxy.  I am sat her writing, only my fingers and my mind moving.  Motionless or so it seems, but in truth speeding through the universe with no heading or destination planned.  Just constant and unending we roam the void, taking our belongings with us.
