Snowdrops

Pure pearls emerge from winter’s earth,
out of decay and wilting drabness, dearth
of colour, life, growth –
bright white droplets gleam
– delicate markings decorate,
light green.
Surprising rise,
forerunners of the spring
encouraging to patient waiting,
yearning
for the coming warmth’s
rich greening
to begin.

I love 'pure pearls' Rhiannon
I love 'pure pearls' Rhiannon and also 'rich greening'. They are such a pure little flower braving the cold and warming the beds for the spring flowers to come.

A lovely piece written about
A lovely piece written about this delicate, yet strong flower that lets us know Spring is just around the corner.
Very much enjoyed Rhiannon.

"out of decay and wilting
"out of decay and wilting drabness, dearth" what a description of Winter!
"Surprising growth" is clever as they rise out of the ground
"bright white droplets gleam" is perfect, droplets as they are so small.
We don't have carpets, but there are a few clumps at the beginning of the wood, always something to look for after Christmas. They look so brave poking up through the snow this year.
