Never far from where we start

Ten o’clock in the evening
and that feeling
of being on a Mediterranean holiday
and never going back
Except you do
because it always calls you back
It always will
Blue buses in the warm night
Familiar destinations
Blue fluorescent light
illuminating riders
Locating rubbish bins
Plastic and organic
Dropping off the empties

who always smile back
The men, too
Drawing back congestion
to spit neatly into a tree base
It’s Saturday
Tomorrow I’ll be busy
submitting hours
and classroom notes
Then another week of teaching
Last trimester, maybe
Let’s see

It amazes me how you get so
It amazes me how you get so much into so few words? For example,
Drawing back congestion
to spit neatly into a tree base
where I live, people do it on the pavement. Some look embarrassed, but no one makes any effort to do it where it won't get walked in. That you use the word "congestion" and it's done "neatly" gives an idea of elegance :0)
I like too how you say nearly everyone smiles back, showing me that you smile at them, that you the writer are happy, but by the end are contemplating leaving this happiness
