So To Drift

Seems so long ago now, parched as we were in
Scorching heat - followed coastal path of
Seclusion, quenching thirst I cupped my hands,
Reached down to where water springs from
Out of ground...shed a few tears at view of
Sparkling sea,
Nirvana found my mind so buoyant at nature's
Purest sounds. Striving on now leaves me
Breathless, delight in lyrical gratification reached,
Created by emotion of ocean's muse...when sinewy
Vibrations resound in tumbling forceful waves,
Then! Echoes of this poem drift on shores of papery white.

The sea is a work of art isn't it. I am overdue a visit to the coast. I love the close arrangement of this piece and 'sinewy vibrations and tumbling forceful waves' and the echoes on shores of papery white. Beautiful.

You seem to convey that warmth and sparkling, rumbling ocean, and white sands. Rhiannon

I like the line breaks in the first verse, like your tongue is so dry you can hardly get the words out? And when you find the spring the lines flow free. And then salt tears and the salt sea, joining you with the water in another way. Then so clever, you tip the poem up, so instead of walking to reach the sea you are writing, and the last wonderful image of the page/screen being like a beach, and I realise your short verses are like little waves lapping and there's the lovely relaxed happy feeling of walking in bare foot in soft sand at the edge of the sea even as you can hear much fiercer waves rumbling over rocks a bit away

I was thinking of Cornwall as I was reading it? I went there when 19 on a trip with art college - the longest time I had stayed so long away from my family. It was amazing! I felt like a seagull :0) We stayed in St Ives, too, and went out walking every day, (in Spring as cheaper and it was FREEZING) So many of the rocks are like sculptures aren't they? Everything there seems extra vivid, I guess it's the light people talk about, it did make me want to make pictures wherever I looked. It has made the same strong impression on you (thinking of Veil of Light and many of your poems about the sea)
