[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

Seek peace with all, but not with sin
or evil conversation;
respect and friendship try to win,
but don’t condone corruption.

Seek holiness in all your life
or God you will be grieving:
avoid censoriousness and strife –
be courteous, none deceiving.

Be resolute for right, but meek –
without his aid you’ll fail him,
but with his help, though frail and weak,
good will succeed, prevailing.

Christ died upon the cross to pay
our debts for all our failures,
now our delight is in his Way,
he mends our flawed behaviours.

A very sensitive subject Rhiannon, Christian brothers fighting and waging war against each other. Our churches are very divided, even thoughout history there were terrible religious wars. Yet we all have the same Bible.

Thank you, Tom. I'm sorry I didn't notice your comment yesterday. Such argument and fighting as you describe is very sad, though sometimes some will say they are Christians and yet deny the fundamental truths of Christ, and then there has to be firm disagreement, though our place isn't to war now.

I had in mind particularly conducting ourselves among those who don't know or follow the Lord, and in the world we try to be firendly and kind, and hope to encourage others to come to Him, though having to show distinctiveness where moral issues and way of life are concerned and not get enticed to join in ungodly conversation, attitudes and actions. Thanks, Jean. Sometimes I find myself writing now to a metre I can't find in the hymn books. I must chat to David about it. Though he's just become a new father (second child) so maybe not at present! Rhiannon
