I romanticised all this:
Origins, family, class
Like it grew from the maternal soil
- A work of honesty and truth
I’d allowed myself to dream
- The brain's organising tendency
Detail hurts too much – can’t be sustained
Layers of autumn leaves
sentimentalise what lies beneath
Read the epitaph
Don't disturb the leaves

You're like that basketball
You're like that basketball player called Carl Malone whose nickname was "The Mailman" because he always delivered. - I can't remember reading something of yours I didn't enjoy.
