Gordon Ramsay, A Lesson In Life. Part One.

Last year in the sale, I bought a cup for myself. I always choose individual cups, that are special to me, for their shape, colour, words, size and price. I was in my favourite shop, and a cup caught my eye, I loved the simpleness of it, in shape and stone colour. I saw that the price on the side was perfect, so I tuned it over to look at the bottom. It was by Royal Daulton, fabulous, it was dishwasher and microwave safe, fabulous again, and had the words, Bread Street, on whatever that meant, then I saw the name, Gordan Ramsay! I like to have only good vibes when I drink from my cups, and there is nothing about him that gives me that. I put the mug back onto the shelf and carried on looking around the store, but I couldn’t get that mug out of my mind, what was in a name anyway, it’s just a name. Did I want his name in my mind each morning when I had my cuppa? Heck, no.
I went back and had a look at the lone mug, I held it, it felt right, it looked right and the size was right, as was the price, so I decided to buy the mug, it did grieve me to think I’d be giving him money, but there was no denying it, it was a nice mug.
Last Monday 3rd of February as I was drying my mug ready to use to make my hot drink, it slipped out of my hands and fell straight down, bottom first onto the hard-tiled kitchen floor. I knew what would happen next, smashed to smithereens!
But that is not what happened. It hit the floor hard and didn’t break, I picked it up and inspect it carefully, I couldn’t see any damage so using my knuckle I went around the mug and tapped it again and again, it sounded fine.
I made my hot drink, and as I was preparing it, it thought, that’s just like life, it is never as you expect, for if that same cup had fallen on its side, it would have broken to a thousand pieces, and if it was a different mug, another of my special pieces, there was no doubt in my mind, it would have been lost forever.
Life is like that, some people are in serious accidents and come out unscathed, others don’t make it. That simple, (important mug to me), reminded me of life and the everyday.
So, “Thank you Gordan Ramsey.”

Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares
Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares is an example of everything which is wrong with the human race. I enjoyed this piece about the little conflicts that occur inside our heads and reasons behind them. I can lose myself in the mug section in Homesense for a good twenty minutes.
