If You Were A Comet

If you were a comet
you would be formed
of frozen carbon compounds,
water and fluorescent dusts.
A bright ice, born in the Oort cloud,
denizen of the outer reaches who,
when released on galactic tides,
furies in retrograde, and you would blaze
your own orbit, evaporate fragments
of your identity once caught
in the scourge of solar winds,
and you would weave sunbeams and
streak radioactive across purpled midnights
as white flames
and I would understand
your distant message.

I would love someone to 'weave sunbeams' and 'streak radioactive across purpled midnights'. What lovely words.
