The Holy Spirit, my Guest

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series: today is Pentecost Sunday, 50 days after Easter Sunday, 10 days after Jesus had ascended back to heaven. He had promised his Spirit would come to empower the nervous little group of disciples, and be with all believers always. See Acts chapter 2]
Holy Spirit, gift divine,
precious treasure, you are mine:
mine to teach me by your Word, –
let your guiding voice be heard.
Holy Spirit, guest divine,
I would ever have you mine;
take the rubbish from my life,
sweep out idols, sin and strife.
Holy Spirit, furnish well,
holy home in which to dwell:
make my life to please you more,
on my heart engrave your law.
Oh, revealer of man’s sin,
recreating work begin;
bring to life that we may view
many now indwelt by you.
Tune: 77 77 eg Vienna by J H Knecht, or Aletta by W B Bradbury

holy spirit
Teaching of the Holy Spirit is very neglected let's face it. But one must be careful of Pentecost not to get “carried away” as such.
As your hymn goes and the words, excellent, of the best, brilliant. Have a great day Rhiannon!
