I dusted my desk
and tidied my room.
I'm getting ready
to appear on Zoom.

I am a newbie 
- it's my first time -
but am prepared
to give it a whirl.

But will I need
a make-up girl?
I must have a script
and glasses, to read.

It's important to make
the right impression
all through the session
from beginning to end.

I'll meet old friends
like Helen and Jane
and make new ones.
I am eager to attend
and cannot contain
impatience any longer.

After next Thursday,
when it is all over,
I'll heave a deep sigh
and resignedly say,
“How time does fly!”

I have been to two meetings, in York and Nottingham, where I met you and a convivial crowd, and enjoyed both atmospheric occasions tremendously. This virtual reading is a new experience and I am sure it will produce performances of high standard, as usual. I too am excited but nervous too.
