Phyllida Case

Did anyone hear about Phyllida Case?
She resigned as a member of the human race:
some believe she became a dog,
a bat, an elephant or a wide-mouthed frog.
I couldn’t believe it as simple as that,
for if it were, we’d all be a cat.
The police put tape around number ten,
dug a few holes and then left again.
Ethel from eight, said she saw her in Aldi,
but she has a goat and it’s called Grimaldi.
I’ve glimpsed her displayed in butcher’s shops
winking at me between kidneys and chops.
She was my friend and her loss made me sad,
some of the stories are simply quite mad.
But somebody knows where Phyllida went,
whether Timbuktu or Sittingbourne, Kent.
Whatever the truth of Phyllida’s end,
I’m lonely now, will you be my friend?

I haven't followed this story
I haven't followed this story but I loved the rhythm you kept in the poem. Wry and funny and, I imagine, topical.

When I say "story" I mean
When I say "story" I mean "news story". I am a bit inconsistent at keeping up with stuff. In answer to your question, I don't know either. Paul

There's nowt wrong
... with a bit of experimental noodling, as many have echoed, truth can be found in the strangest of places :)
