Contrast focussing thought

If we hadn’t sat though winter drear
would the snowdrops rouse such cheer?
Would the blaze of daffodils ignite
our hearts, rejoicing in increasing warmth and light?
If we hadn’t known frustration, fears
we’d not experience as peace reappears,
the special joy, appreciation of its taste
and treasure up the days
of freedom, health, and turn our gaze
to things of lasting worth,
whose foretaste’s known on earth.

The changing of the season
The changing of the season brings many emotions, especially after this particular winter. I honestly think so many more folks have come to appreciate simple things around them such as flora and fauna. Nicely articulated poem.

Nicely assembled thoughts,
Nicely assembled thoughts, Rhiannon. Keen gardeners would certainly welcome with renewed enthusiasm the sight of flora regeneration after the dreadful weather we've had of late.

PS Is there a line missing by any chance? Line seven doesn't seem to follow the scheme of the other couplets. Not that it affects the overall meaning which is very apt.

I don't think anyone could do it better, though? Differently, yes, but not better! You write with such clarity, like poverbs or sayings handed down because they are always true

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
This is a lovely poem, and so true. Spring flowers seem much more important this year and some how more beautiful.
I took your advice about my writing.

A humbling poem Rhiannon,
A humbling poem Rhiannon, makes you realize just what is really important. I think as you get older appreciation turns to peace and calm and not so much to constantly wanting more.
Enjoyable read.
Jenny.
