Strong heat
hot air rising high
to meet clouds of
water droplets:
electrostatic build-up
gigantic spark
shoots to earth
down from the cloud,
air disturbed –
thunder sound-wave loud
bright flash hot ignites
dry grass:
fire!

Excellent work Riannon! I have been in a storm like this it's called a lightning storm or electric storm there is no rain. Very scary if you are alone in a house with no furniture and no curtains. Can be terrifying.

Yes a flash from the blue can also happen just Zap! Cloudless sky. Also on a gholf course sometimes people have been killed.

Thank you, Tom. I just set off trying to think how lightning occurs, because of the words suggested in the IP that seemed to connect to it. I suppose these storms do make us realise our limited power in ourselves and can be awe-inspiring. Rhiannon

The sharp, economic wording really brought energy to this piece. You could feel the tension and momentum - kind of like lightning getting ready to strike.
