[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

Revelation: truth made known,
our real need and pathway shown,
Christ, God’s final prophet taught,
knew our pardon must be bought.

Righteous, holy, he would die,
only thus grace could supply,
crucifixion, awful scene – 
killed, so that he could redeem.

Resurrected, work complete,
opened grave, Satan’s defeat,
coming soon, his Spirit sent
kindly leads men to repent.

Reigning , drawing some to turn,
of his mercy, love to learn.
church – believers gather, own
King  whose care and rule they’ve known.

"Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee". Experimenting with a new style? Beautiful, clever and it rhymes too!

Thank you. Yes, that is a wonderful hymn, I think inspired from hiding in a cleft of a rock in a thunderstorm.

I had heard the letters of Rock used as an acronym, and decided to see if I could do a number of verses using the letters each time and cover much ground in a different way to try to make things memorable.

What beautiful English! Did you notice the tune is exactly the same (as yours?) I think you can actually sing your words to the same music as the original Methodist &&

Yes, beautiful, and so simply clear as well. So many feel they have to somehow earn God's love and pardon, and struggle as it is impossible, and need to see that when that pardon is simply accepted because of Christ's death for us, then he enables us to start serving him somwhat better!

I think Toplady's hymn has 6 lines to each verse, so it fits, but one would have to repeat the last two lines ofeach verse. It could be sung to 'Innocents' (tune of 'Children of the heavenly King') or 'Easter Hymn' tune of 'Christ the Lord is risen today' which needs 'Alleluia!' (Praise God!) at the end of every line.
